Drive Safe Awareness Campaign- Tyre Campus
As part of their awareness activities, the Department of Computer Science & Information Technology, the Biomedical Science Department and the School of Business held their driving awareness campaign entitled "Drive Safe", on Thursday 19 April, 2018 at Tyre Campus.
The campaign was raised because of the increase in the tragic loss of life resulting from road accidents. The scope was on good practices for reducing road safety risks caused by road user distractions. The campaign program was launched with the invited guests Mrs. Lena Joubran (KunHadi Vice president) and Major Hussein Hammoud from Internal Security forces. The Major presented statistics on road crashes and insisted that the citizen’s safety is corporate responsibility between citizen and the security forces. Staying safe on the road is important for all drivers and they should abide by the rules of the road.
Mrs. Lena Joubran highlighted car crashes causes (Speeding, Drunk Driving, Seat Belt, Mobile Phone, etc.) and gave tips to students (Road Markings, Priority, Road signs).
The whole day campaign ended with cake-cutting followed by two demonstrations presented by volunteers from the Civil Defense and Red Cross. Volunteers helped bring the reality of cutting drivers free from wreckage by removing the roof of a car then giving first aid to them in the university playground.
The event was sponsored by ERSAN accessories, Al-Arabi sweets, Kingo Copy center and Habib Saad for tires. The Tombola included 50 emergency kits for cars (Fire extinguisher, Car First Aid and emergency warning triangles)
